A letter published today in the daily “The News”.

Nelson Mandela, the world´s most beloved statesmen and a colossus of the 20th century, has died at the age of 95.On his death I want to share a couplet he shared some years ago which, he said, he used to read a lot during his time in prison.

‘It matters not how straight the gate/How changed with punishment the scroll?
I am master of my fate/I am captain of my soul’ – W E Henley
